A zombie cocktail?: The term chemical lobotomy conjures up the idea of someone who is much like a zombie due to their medication. The majority of psychotropic medications now a days don't cause some one to be emotionally numb or so sedated that they are out of it.

Chemical lobotomy?: Most doctors prescribe medications in order to help people with painful symptoms and illnesses -- not to render them stuporous or otherwise impaired. I agree with dr. Fowler's comments. Psychiatric medications do have side effects, yet there can be reasonable balancing of desirable effects vs problematic ones. Above all, a working patient-doctor partnership is needed.
