A member asked:

Was lobotomy ever done as a treatment for narcolepsy? i was born in 1995 in pa. diagnosed when i was 5-7. concerned about if i ever had it done to me.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Would not worry : Yes, Lobotomies were frequent in the early to mid 19th century for a range of conditions that included narcolepsy - these procedures largely went away around the early 1960s in the United States. As a result, it is not likely that you were exposed to this procedure having been born in 1995 and diagnosed around 2000.
