Viral infection: Molluscum contagiosum a viral skin infection produces benign raised lesions, usually painless bumps, on the upper layers of skin. They disappear on their own and rarely leave scars. The bumps can last from two months up to four yrs medication and surgery is available, but treatment is often not necessary.
