If the mass is big: It could-if the mass is big enough. The sensitivity and specificity in picking up small lesions are not very good however.

If big enough: Chest xray can't pick up small abnormalities as well as ct scan. However, it can be a good test re: pneumonia, fluid around lungs, heart size, etc. Chest ct is preferred screening test for current , or prior smokers with 20-30 pack years of smoking.

Sometimes: Cancers of numerous types occur through out different age groups. If you had a tumor or mass, it could potentially be identified by chest x-ray. This would more likely be a "surprise" or "incidental finding". If a tumor was suspected, a chest x-ray would not normally be the imaging modality used to find/locate/define a tumor in the chest.

Yes and No!: Lung or chest xrays are not the optimum test to evaluate for tumor within the chest. It would only show up depending upon the location, size and character of the lesion.
