Is quinolone (levaquin) -induced bilateral insertional achilles tendinosis treated differently than more common causes of this illness?

Achilles: Typically, when the antibiotic is removed, the tendinosis will improve. There is a spectrum of disease pathology and also treatment options. If it doesn't improve with the removal of the abx, a reasonable option is a walking boot for 6-8 weeks. If bad enough, maybe achilles' tendon debridement with flexor hallucis longus augmentation.

Not really: Any kind of tendonitis requires rest and maybe antiinflammatories. The only difference would be to discontinue the quinolone and avoid it in the future whenever possible.

Tx is same: Stop the levaquin (levofloxacin). Rule out achilles' tendon tear/rupture. Treatment is the same if just tendinitis.
