Yes: See your doctor. He can determine if you need an antibiotic. The penicillin group is usually safe during pregnancy as is a z-pak.

Yes: If you are not allergic, penicillin is one of the safest and most commonly prescribed antibiotics in pregnancy. It is the drug of choice for strept throat. However, most sore throats are caused by viruses and therefore not amenable to antibiotics. If fever and sore throat persists, see your family doctor for possible rapid strept test.
