The results vary: Stent replacement of aneurysms of the abdomen are increasing inuse..The results, barring immediate complications such as leak ( endleak) are comparable today with open surgical repair.

Great Question!: You are very young to have a aaa, and to get a stent. The durability of the current stents is excellent, but we only have 10-15 year of data. You will need surveillance forever, and sometimes that is why we offer younger patients open repairs.

AAA: Unless u have other medical conditions that make open repair more dangerous, most surgeons will not put an endograft in a young patient. We only have true real life experience with them for 15-20 yrs and you will likely outlive that length of time
