Depends: It really depends on what the wound looks like the following 24 hours with respect to the quality and quantity of the drainage. Also the physician takes into account the type of material that is packed in the incision. Certain packing can remain in the wound up to seven days while others need to be removed within the first 24 to 48 hours.
