Depends: It really depends on what the wound looks like the following 24 hours with respect to the quality and quantity of the drainage. Also the physician takes into account the type of material that is packed in the incision. Certain packing can remain in the wound up to seven days while others need to be removed within the first 24 to 48 hours.

Hello i had incision and drainage under arm for a boil. The cut was 4cm deep. Its been almost 3 months and the wound still oozes some blood and pus.
I had a c-section and am 8 weeks pp. 6 week check up, gynae advised that all looks good with the wound. Checked it today and seems that the incision has opened a bit - no discharge. Is this normal? It's over a weekend, should I contact my doctor?
