Russian Roulette: As is often the case with many individuals who suffer from mental illness, they decide to reduce or discontinue their psychotropic medications when they begin to feel better. Certain conditions especially bipolar disorder and schizophrenia often require long term use of medications. The patient is feeling better because of the medications and they risk relapse when stopping them. Consult with md.

Time will tell: Haloperidol have anti manic properties. 0.25 mg /day is one the low end of the dosing range. This may be an appropriate dose given certain patient characteristics. The goal of treatment is to prevent recurrent mood episodes. The longer his in in remission for more reassuring it will be. Sleep is a good measure of impending recurrence of illness.
