Freckles and moles: Moles are collections of skin cells that have a lot of the dark skin pigment, called melanin. Some people have many moles and some people have few or none. The family of this ten year old may also have lots of moles and freckles, and this generally does not mean anything bad will happen to him. You should keep him away from the sun, by wearing shirts, and hats and using sun protective creams.

Moles: Genetics is one of the most important factors in the growth of moles. Most people are not born with moles, but will develop moles throughout their lifetime. They will appear, grow, fade and disappear many times throughout your life. However, some people are genetically predisposed towards moles.
