ASPS: If its strictly a deviated septum you can search ear nose and throat or plastic surgeons in your area / network. If it's a deviated septum and a change in appearance your desiring, i would start by searching board certified plastic surgeons on the american society of plastic surgeons website. Then go for a consultation or 2 and view before and after photos and find someone your comfortable with.

Board Certification: Find a board certified otolaryngologist in your area, do an internet search, and ask your friends / primary care doctors. Credentials can be verified at www.Aboto.Org finding the right surgeon is not always an easy process, which is why some people are willing to travel quite far, so take your time. Good luck!

Risk assessment: Research your surgery, so that you know almost as much as the surgeon. Do not focus only on board certification, as if the surgeon is a jerk you won't feel like going back for follow ups, which are as important as the surgery. Research patient reviews and find out how competent (before and after photos), & trustworthy your surgeon of choice is. Choose someone who you like, and has time for you.
