Cardiac enzymes: What we refer to are certain lab tests which evaluate the presence and levels of particular enzymes which reach abnormal levels in various states of heart pathology. There are enzymes we measure to evaluate heart attack, congestive heart failure and other conditions. Like any other test, they have sensitivity and specificity levels and need to be understood to interpret them.

Enzymes: Are proteins that are normally inside teh celles of the heart for various specific functions. Becuase they are inside the cells, they are not tyoically detected in the blood. When heart muscle has reduced blood flow, we note cell death and thus these enzymes are released and can be detected in blood tests.
