Cardiac enzyme: Troponins are muscle enzymes that can be measured in the blood to detect muscle damage in the heart like with a heart attack. When the muscle is damaged the enzymes leak from the cells.

Cardiac Enzymes: What are commonly known as cardiac enzymes are the one of the by products of tissue damage. If the heart muscle undergoes damage, these enzymes are released into the bloodstream. The level of cardiac enzymes can be a marker of the severity of a cardiac event.
