A member asked:

Can multiple sacral meningocele be a cause of back pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually not: Sacral meningoceles are present from birth, and if they were the cause of pain they would have caused you trouble throughout your life. I doubt this is the case, however. I imagine your back pain is a more recent happening. Meningoceles are simply enlargements of the sheaths covering the nerves, and almost never cause pain. It would be important to be evaluated by a neurosurgeon at some point.
