You need work up : Pain in the back where kidneys are located can be muscular or could be from kidney stones (most common), infection, lack of blood supply to kidney and few other rare conditions. See your pcp and get basic blood work done plus a kidney ultrasound. This will be adequate to diagnose your condition.
