Can coming into contact with poison ivy ever be life threatening? i am concerned about my son who likes to play in the woods with his friends.

Teach: Teach him to recognize & avoid this plant.It is an allergic reaction which will occur to those who are sensitive to it. It is not life threatening. It is not contageous. If there has been contact rinse with water as soon as possible. Prescription clobetasol cream or gel is very effective. Sometimes it is severe enough to warrent use of Prednisone 50 mg alternate days for 2 or 3 doses.
