Dyspareunia : Estrogen deficiency in menopause causes vaginal skin dryness and thinning -- can cause pain during intercourse (dyspareunia) and light bleeding. Some women will benefit from using vaginal estrogen (cream, ring, tablet) or oral/patch estrogen replacement to treat these vaginal changes. Be sure to see a physician about other possible causes of pain: urinary infection, vaginitis, muscle spasms, etc.
