Other hormones?: Women with type 1 diabetes are at higher risk for other hormonal problems -- autoimmune thyroid disease (graves', hashimoto's) and autoimmune ovarian failure (early menopause). Both hypo- and hyperthyroidism can cause menstrual periods to become abnormal -- but are reversible with treatment. Early menopause can cause hot flashes, sweats and other symptoms. Insulin rx doesn't cause loss of periods.
