A member asked:

Does zoloft (sertraline) leave permanent 'marks' on your brain? even if you stopped taking it will your brain be any different once its out of your system?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

NO: Zoloft (sertraline) , antidepressants in general, leave no telltale "marks" on common imaging studies (ct, mri) there maybe brief changes in certain receptors, but this would require very sophisticated imaging that would only be used in a research trial. Over time receptors are "recycled", it is doubtful that the new receptors would show evidence of medication use.
