See below: If you are taking zoloft, (sertraline) you should probably not stop and should ask your family doctor if they can prescribe it. If you have to stop, and getting brain zaps, i would advise to take 3/4 of the tablet for 1 week, then 1/2 tablet for 1 week, then 1/4 of tablet for 1 week, then stop. Just to let you know, the "zaps" are uncomfortable, but won't hurt you.

Taper slowly: Zoloft (sertraline) is available in generic form and is inexpensive, so if it is helpful to you, it is unclear why you would need to stop this drug for financial reasons. However, you can avoid withdrawal symptoms by tapering off slowly-- 75mg for a few days (until you adjust to the new lower dose), then 50mg, then 25mg.
