SORE throat suggest: Hydrate, lozenges especially cepacol which has mild anesthetic properties, tylenol, (acetaminophen) advil, throat coat tea are suggestions. If fever, large lymph glands, or infected looking tonsils then get culture for strep.

Try something simple: First try drinking cold liquids (avoid carbonated beverages or acidic drinks) and gargling salt water. You could try over the counter throat sprays and lozenges that help decrease throat soreness. Over the counter pain medication (tylenol, motrin, aspirin, etc) may be helpful as well. If this doesn't improve in 24-48 hours, you should see your doctor.
