Medication may help: Pilocarpine or cevimeline may help. These medications stimulate saliva production. Avoiding medications that have dry mouth as a side effect may be an issue - check your medications, or speak to your doctor or pharmacist. Oral products such as biotene may help also.

Prevention: Prevent decay- decay can become huge problem when you have dry mouth. I put my pts. On a high flouride toothpaste like prevident, recommend stimulating saliva with sugar free candy or gum, even better when sweetened with xylitol, plenty of water. Also i like the saliva replacement mouth spray. Biotine and xlear have good products for dry mouth. Xlear also has a gel to spread around for comfort.
