How many yrs do it take for an antidepressant to stop working? i am really worried because i am in my 20 's now and taking it for anxiety.

Medication duration: Everyone is individual and how they respond to medications is individual. Many people stay on the same antidepressant for years without becoming tolerant. Other people have to change frequently. There are a lot of medications out there. There is no reason to think one of the others won't help just as well. Keep working with your physician.

Good question: The answer depends on many factors that are specific. Please speak with the person prescribing your medication for the best answer. For many people, an antidepressant keeps working and stays effective. Hope this answer helps.

Should keep on: I agree with my colleague who points out that it should keep on working. That's been my clinical experience. I might add that your worry is itself possibly part of the very anxiety you are treating. Discuss with your provider.
