It does sound : Like classic hip pain. Have you had an x-ray to id the problem? Arthritis? Fracture? The good news is that hip replacement, if indicated, can bring dramatic pain relief-even including post-op pain. (just be sure to do your physical therapy 'religiously') but start with some tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen & talk to your doc to see what she/he thinks should be done to get you feeling better. Hip problems can refer down to the knee area. The same nerve innervates the two, so hip problems can be felt with pain in the knee area.
