In childhood, the face is rounder and has more fat deposits. As puberty progresses, the limbs, then the trunk, then the face grow and their appearance becomes leaner and more defined. (less round). As the face is the last part to grow and change, it is common to see 17-20 yr olds with rounder faces, even though their body and limbs are longer and more defined.
