Its not if healthy: Alcaligenes is a genus of gram-negative, pathogenic, opportunistic bacteria. That means that unless your immune system is devastated...The bacteria won't harm you. Members of this general family are actually beneficial in the environment. Alcaligenes faecalis is significant because it converts the most toxic form of arsenic, arsenite to its less dangerous form, arsenate.
