Painful pop: Could be ligament sprain or muscle/tendon tear/strain. Start with ice & rest, then add heat & gentle stretching. Consider purified omega, nsaids, modalities/pt/laser. Check with your orthopedic surgeon.

Wait for now: Most likely it is a scapular bursitis that will take some time to resolve. As long as you have good movement at your shoulder, without any numbness or tingling in your hands, this is the most likely diagnosis. The bursitis will resolve with nsaids, rest, and ice. If not better after 10 - 14 days, get it evaluated.

See your doc: More than likely this is just a muscular origin of pain. An anti-inflammatory and some pt could be very helpful. The therapist will be able to do heat, massage, ultrasound and estim to help. You doctor can also order studies to rule out something more significant.
