Ibuprofen: Yes. But if you continue to have shin pain it should be evaluated for cause.

Unless: You have an allergy to ibuprofen, 400 mg as a single dose for a 22 year old fit and able enough to be a marine is a small dose. Larger daily doses for pain are often advised.
