Taper with MD: Talk with your prescribing physician. He or she can help you to develop a tapering regimen. Take care.

Tappering the dose: It has to be tappered slowly and then discontinued. For example: if you are on 20mg a day. I will do the following- 15mg once daily x 5 days then 10mg once daily x 5days then 5mg once daily for 5 days then 5mg every other day for 10 days then discontinue.

Take it slow: Ssris are effective but coming off them is best done under supervision. I'd talk about the taper with my doctor and supplement my treatment with talk therapy and lifestyle adjustments so that your brain can find the boost from natural interventions rather than chemical ones. Usual dose of 10mg per day should go to 5 mg per day for at least a month before going to 5 mg every other day, then 0mg.
