Doubtful: Best not to shop for answers that you are looking for and make an appointment with a pediatric surgeon with good reputation to evaluate and make recommendations. Also discuss with your pediatrician. Important to determine if the pain the child is having is related to the hernia or represents something else. Get a proper in person examination and evaluation.

Usually not: Usually if it will resolve on its own it is by about age 4. These are really small and simple operations. If it is causing pain just get it fixed. Very low risk and simple little procedure. Your child will be much better off.
