Surgery: Varicose veins are problematic and unpleasant but can be observed without surgery. The challenge is wearing medical grade stockings all the time. Tremendous progress has been made in venous surgery. Venous stripping or removing the large veins, laser therapy and injection under ultrasound may be an option for you. Ask for a surgeon who does vein surgery.

Customized Treatment: The treatment is customized for each individual patient. But the days of stripping these veins out in a hospital with large incisions have long since passed. Seek out an ultrasound of your veins by a local vascular surgeon. These are office procedures usually done with a mild local anesthetic.

Often a combination: Treatment often starts with compression.Depending on the size and location of your varicose veins, you could have an endovenous thermal ablation procedure or an operation. You might also have sclerotherapy and/or phlebectomy might be recommended to you. See a vein specialist who can do an ultrasound evaluation of your veins and then decide what is the best way for your varicose veins to be treated.
