Herpes: There are three major drugs commonly used to treat herpes symptoms: Acyclovir (zovirax), Famciclovir (famvir), and valacyclovir (valtrex). These are all taken in pill form. Severe cases may be treated with the intravenous (IV) drug acyclovir.
