A member asked:

Is it possible to be allergic to the scent of cinnamon but not be allergic when consumed?

Vasomotor: Some individuals are sensitive to scents and can have nasal reactions ranging from sneezing, runny nose to nasal congestion. Cinnamon can trigger such reactions, but you also may react similarly to other scents. Vasomotor rhinitis, which is the condition at hand, can be treated with nasal sprays. Talk to your doctor to prescribe one for you.

Unlikely: The most likely possibility is that the scent of cinnamon is an irritant as opposed to an actual "allergen." many people are sensitive to strong odors such as scented candles, potpourri, and cigarette smoke--this is a form of rhinitis called vasomotor rhinitis.
