7-10 days: An acute sinus infection may follow a URI and frequently lasts 7-10 days. Often, the body's immunologic system cures itself, but if symptoms linger, than an antibiotic may be necessary. Steam inhalation, saline sprays or irrigations and decongestants are helpful, along with drinking plenty of water.
