Depends...: Depends on how consistently you enforce a "no" once you've said it. If "no" can turn into a "yes" with enough pressure, they may never learn to understand it. At best, 18-24 months.

That depends: Some babies may understand the word as early as 6 months, but typically it won't be until after a year or 18 months that they will actually stop what they are doing in response to the word. Try to set up a safe place for your baby to play in your house so you can avoid saying "no" a lot.
