Unusual: The rash associated with HIV is often flat and lacy, although a variety of rashes have been described. Lots of other infections cause rash as well (syphilis is one not to miss). And, usually people with acute HIV also have other symptoms like fatigue, sore throat, nausea, etc the cdc recommends that all adults be tested for hiv, so if it crosses your mind to think hiv, then go ahead and get tested.

Varied: There are many types of rashes possibly associated with hiv. A nonspecific macular/papillae is possible. If syphilis is associated...The rash may be on the palms and soles. If disseminated gonorrhea...Pustules in skin. Shingles will be wrapping lesions.
