I usually suffer from tonsilitis, pharengitis and soar throat through out the year. is there any permanent solution? i am a smoker.

Two things: The obvious first answer is to stop smoking--if your immune system is not busy clearing out tar/smoke/etc., it might do a better job w/virus & bacteria. Second is to see an ENT dr. Criteria fluctuate, but >4-6 throat infections per year can be an indication to remove tonsils (+/- adenoids). See if ENT considers that a viable option for your situation.
