I found a lump on my 9 year old daughters breast. there is no rubor, swelling, or heat present. is there anyway this could be breast cancer?

Unlikely: Highly unlikely. There are some rare instances of breast carcinomas and sarcomas occurring in the pediatric population- however this is rare. Most likely - it's a benign (non cancerous process) lump. These benign lumps can occasionally be locally destructive (over taking the normal breast tissue) and need to be surgically removed. See your pediatrician to start. You may need to see a surgeon.

Very rare: It would be extremely rare for this to be breast cancer. Most likely you are feeling a breast bud. This the breast tissue that will begin to form. You should however discuss your concerns with your pediatrician.
