A member asked:

If someone has a clicking joint line and the mcmurray test is preformed does that indicate a positive test for a meniscus problem?

Yes: Those are two positive tests for a meniscus tear. You cannot do a mcmurrays on yourself though. If you have swelling in your knee, joint line pain and a history of an injury the likelihood of a meniscus tear is more significant.

Sort of: Those tests are just one piece of the puzzle. A positive flexion mcmurrays test can indicate a meniscus tear. History and physical examination are usually 90% of the diagnosis. Make sure you have a set of weight bearing x-rays to look for arthritis and then an MRI is probably indicated.
