Fasting less 125: The best diagnosis involve a sugar level after 8hours of fasting that needs to be less than 126mg/dl any random blood sugar needs to be greater than 200.

Diabetes definition: Diabetes is defined as a fasting blood sugar of greater than or equal to 126 on two different occasions, a blood sugar anytime greater than 200 or a hba1c of greater than 6.5.

Spectrum of diabetes: Normal 2 hour post meal is up to 140. Over 200 (twice) meets the criteria for diabetes. In between is impaired glucose tolerance. For people with diabetes who are being treated, up to 180 is considered acceptable.
