A member asked:

Would nsaids help my optic neuritis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No, do not use: Optic neuritis is an autoimmune process, often heralding eventual diagnosis of ms (varies from around 25-60% chance). The inflammation affecting the optic nerve responds best to steroids or acth, and intravenous Methylprednisolone is the classic approach. It may take several weeks to fully resolve, and needs close followup. Nsaid's have absolutely no value, and may create GI side effects.
