ICE!: Try using ice pack for symptomatic relief. Ice has no bad effects on your liver, kidneys or GI system. Almost impossible to cause any problems even with diabetes or vascular disease if you cover the icepack with a pillowcase. Get a heavy gel type icepack-they weigh about a pound or two. Don't bother with the little 6 or 8 ounce ones. May need to go to med supply house or practioner.

Try heat too: Ice is great if you have pain, tenderness, swelling and inflammation but ice will leave you tight and sometimes increase spasms. Follow the ice with heat (15-20 min. Only) and that will help relax the muscles. Otcs like Ibuprofen can also help at times. If symptoms persist, talk to you doc about rx options.
