Anovulatory bleeding: With pcos it's likely you are not ovulating regularly. In some cases the endometrium (uterine lining) can become thick and bleed abnormally. An ultrasound or endometrial biopsy may be helpful in diagnosing the specific circumstances, and medication (possibly birth control pills) may be necessary to control the irregular bleeding.

DUB: You probably are not ovulating so instead of having regular periods you are probably having dysfunctional (breakthrough) bleeding. You should see your doctor for evaluation and treatment.
