A member asked:

When using a heart rate monitor for exercise, how do you factor into your heart range the intended effects of heart meds?

Heart rate for exerc: Theoretical maximum heart rate is 220 minus your age, so your max would be 147. Depending on your goals and fitness level your workout heart rate should be between 60-80 percent of your max, so around 90-115 beats per min. Heart medication such as a beta blocker will typically make it difficult to get the heart rate much above 100.
