Maybe not: If she ever has symptoms of low blood volume (dizziness on standing) or has an abnormally low hemoglobin level, she is clearly bleeding excessively. The overflow problem (running down her leg) suggests that this may indeed be excessive, and may call for her to be evaluated for a gynecologic or hematologic (abnormal clotting) problem.
