What are u treating?: Without knowing what you are treating it is impossible to provide sound advice. Duration of therapy is always a difficult issue because there are very few controlled studies that provide us with absolute answers. Metronidazole can have some uncomfortable side-effects and you must abstain from alcohol, and increasing dosages may make the GI side-effects more pronounced. Why not ask the doctor?
