Endoscope: Endoscopy is a procedure that can be done by a specialist or a surgeon. A specialist like gastroenterologist can perform endoscopy. A surgeon can perform endoscopy and surgery for the findings on endoscopy. Findings on endoscopy could include a polyp, tumor, or normal.

Occasionally : Gastroenterologists and surgeons will sometime differentiate endoscopy as diagnostic and therapeutic. Therapeutic can sometimes be called surgical endoscopy if it involves removing a large polyp, treating bleeding, but endoscopy and surgical endoscopy are essentially the same.
