Possible...unlikely: The kidney is well protected by your ribcage and fatty tissue and usually injuries are caused by car accidents or falls from a significant height. But any blunt trauma can cause injury to the kidney and if you are concerned see your physician. If you have blood in urine or your pain keeps getting worse, instead of better you should see your doctor immediately.
