Depends on the goal: A person just wanting to stay healthy can do 30-40 minutes 3-4 times a week. Somebody who is wanting to build up a lot of muscle will enjoy a lot more time at the gym, probably working on different muscle groups on alternate days, an likely being at the gym 6-7 days a week.
