Numerous types: Tgere are numerous types of yeast infections. I presume from the way your question is asked you are referring to recurrent yeast infections. Many times probiotics can help prevent recurrence of yeast infections. Probiotics are things such as lactobacillus acidophilus and related. Active yagurt also contains the same beneficial bacteria. These bacteria prevent conditions that allow yeasflouris.

Tx options:: vaginal cream, ointment or suppository for sev. days (7 to 14 days sometimes). OTC meds include monistat (miconzole), Vagistat-1 (tioconazole), Femstat (buoconazole), Gyne-Lotrimin or Mycelex( clotrimazole). If OTC meds don’t work see your Dr. S/he may order Diflucan (oral antifungal) that is taken once (occasionally needs multiple doses for complicated cases). Some require maintenance tx.
